Bring the excitement of tailgating to you!
When it was announced that MLS, NHL, and NBA would resume this summer, many exhaled a sigh of relief knowing that their favorite teams are back in action. Even though sports fans around America are ecstatic about the news, it’s bittersweet. There are many traditions that sports fans have to give up due to CDC regulations— one of which is tailgating. Tailgating is a big part of the sports fan experience. One may even ask, is it really gameday if we don’t drink an unholy amount of beer and eat about three hotdogs beforehand?
Don’t worry, because we have a solution for you! “Home-gating” will be the new trend this sports season. Experience everything you love about tailgating from the comfort of your home! In just a few easy steps, you can throw a great tailgate in your driveway, living room, or backyard.
1. The Atmosphere
Decorate your living room or park your car in the driveway, pop the trunk open, and decorate with merch from your favorite sports team! The Northwest offers a wide range of items to help you rep any team your heart desires. Check out our NFL blankets and cloud pillows. Are you more of a baseball or basketball fan? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. The Northwest also offers MLB, NHL, MLS, NBA, and the NCAA items to cater to every tailgate.
2. Decorations
During a tailgate, the small details are essential. Purchase themed plates or napkins, and DIY signs to hang on the wall. Be creative and, more importantly, have fun with decorating. While you’re setting up the space, listen to this gameday playlist to get yourself gameday ready. Before you know it, you’ll have the tailgate of your dreams right at home!

3. Food
Most commonly, when we think of tailgates, hotdogs and hamburgers are the first things that come to mind. While those are great, we want our home-gate to be special, so make something you usually wouldn’t bring to the stadium!
What made our mouths water is this chili recipe
(our little secret ingredient is to add coffee grounds and dark chocolate to the recipe. Trust us; it tastes delicious). Top the chili off with some cheese, sour cream, and guacamole, and you have the perfect dish! Do you have a sweet tooth? So do I. Check out these irresistible mini apple pies to add to your food platter!
4. Alcohol
Now, you can’t forget about the alcohol. To support your local businesses, search this index. It lists all your local breweries, so your home-gate is stocked with your favorite drinks! Is beer not enough? Try this amazing tailgate punch recipe made with lemonade and vodka.
Game Time!
All you have to do now is turn on the TV and enjoy the game! Although you can’t go to the stadium, you can still recreate the experience. If you miss the crowds, the CDC now approves gatherings of 10 or less, so call up some friends! Cheer on your team and remember to practice safe social distancing!
